In the summer of 2022, fate brought Alexis and Kayla together in the most unexpected way—through a shared love for dogs. Alexis, an independent marketing professional, was searching for the perfect daycare for her spirited pup, Lady Blue. After struggling with less-than-stellar experiences elsewhere, Alexis discovered The Mainely Dog, a newly opened business that promised something different.

The moment Alexis walked into The Mainely Dog, her life began to change. Not only did Lady Blue find her happy place, but Alexis also found herself drawn to the woman behind the operation. Kayla, a determined and passionate entrepreneur, had poured her heart into creating a haven for dogs and their owners. Her dedication and charm immediately caught Alexis’s eye.

What started as a simple evaluation for Lady Blue blossomed into not only a business partnership, but a partnership of love, built on shared values, mutual admiration, and, of course, a deep affection for dogs.

Today, Alexis, Kayla, Lady Blue, and their two other pups, Blu and Akita, live a life full of adventure. As avid lovers of Maine, they spend their summers soaking up the ocean breeze and hiking its majestic mountains, often traveling in their cozy camper van. Winters are spent traveling around New England, enjoying the slopes.  Their love for exploration extends beyond borders, as they share a passion for traveling to other countries and trying new foods.

Their most recent adventure brought them to Japan, where a life-changing moment unfolded. Surrounded by breathtaking mountains and soothing hot springs, they got engaged on the balcony of a traditional Japanese hotel—a perfect reflection of their love story: full of warmth, beauty, and unforgettable moments.

Together, Alexis and Kayla continue to embrace life’s adventures, creating memories with their beloved dogs and building a life rooted in love, connection, and endless exploration!
